quo|rum «KWAWR uhm, KWOHR-», noun.
1. the number of members of any society or assembly that must be present if the business done is to be legal or binding. More than one half the membership usually constitutes a quorum if no special rule exists.
2. British. a) (originally) certain justices of the peace whose presence was necessary to make a session of court legal. b) (later) all justices of the peace.
3. any select company or group.
4. (in the Mormon Church) any one of several groups or subdivisions of the Aaronic and Melchizedek orders of priesthood.
